CACNA1A Awareness Day is observed annually on March 19th. The goal is to raise awareness for CACNA1A-related diseases and to bring people across the globe together to show support for those who are impacted by this rare genetic disease. Why the 19th? Simply because the CACNA1A gene is located on chromosome 19.
By celebrating CACNA1A Awareness Day, you are helping the CACNA1A Foundation continue to build on its mission to accelerate research on CACNA1A-related disorders.

State Proclamation Letters
A proclamation is an official document issued by the Governor or public official to commemorate a specific time or event, such as CACNA1A Awareness Day. It brings recognition, awareness, or appreciation to an issue, cause, milestone, or noteworthy event that is relevant and important to residents in that location. Help us raise awareness of CACNA1A-related disorders by contacting your governor’s office and asking them to issue a statewide or regionwide proclamation of CACNA1A Awareness Day. A letter template and information on how to do this is available. We encourage you to make the message your own by sharing your family’s journey with CACNA1A-related disorders. Then, share your proclamation on social media, send it to your local newspaper, and email us to let us know about your accomplishment.
Our goal is to have as many states represented as possible on CACNA1A Awareness Day! If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@cacna1a.org
In the US, proclamation requests need to be submitted to each state annually. In the past, Georgia, North Dakota, Texas, and Virginia have participated in declaring March 19th CACNA1A Awareness Day.
