The CACNA1A Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by CACNA1A-related diseases and accelerating research to find treatments. Our work is powered by our community of patients, families, friends and supporters. Grassroots fundraising is what makes it all possible - please help us achieve our goals by fundraising for the CACNA1A Foundation.

Social Media and Online Fundraising

Facebook makes it simple to raise funds - you can easily set up a birthday fundraiser or really, do one anytime the urge strikes - You set a goal (it can be $100 or $5000) and share it with your family and friends. Host an Event
Hosting your own fundraiser is a great way to spread awareness of CACNA1A-related disorders and provide family, friends, and neighbors with a fun opportunity to support the CACNA1A Foundation. Silent Auctions, bike and swim-a-thons, golf outings, and Happy Hours are great ways to fundraise.

Do you have an upcoming birthday, wedding, or big life event? You can support us by asking for donations in place of gifts and you can even create a personalized online fundraising page.
Financial information for Events:
The CACNA1A Foundation is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a tax-exempt charitable organization; this tax exempt status is crucial for our ability to carry out our mission. In order to preserve this status, it is essential that you comply with the various IRS regulations regarding nonprofit fundraising activities. Below are some general guidelines:
Because CACNA1A Foundation is not hosting your event, it is considered a third-party event. For this reason, you will not be able to use the Foundation’s IRS 501(c)(3) charitable classification, federal tax ID number, logo, or tax-exempt certificate. With permission you may use our benefitting CACNA1A Foundation logo.
Donors must be informed that only donations made directly to the CACNA1A Foundation (for example, via CACNA1A Foundation’s online donation form or checks made out directly to CACNA1A Foundation) are tax-deductible.
The event organizer may not set up a temporary bank account in CACNA1A Foundation’s name, as this is illegal.
The event organizer may not keep any portion of the proceeds (beyond real expenses) as profit or compensation.
If goods are sold to raise money as part of a fundraising event, it must be made clear to the event participants what percentage of the sale price benefits the CACNA1A Foundation.
Company Gift Matching
Remind friends and family to check their employer’s charitable gift matching programs. Many employers will match donations. Some companies even offer a triple match for days like Giving Tuesday, or will give monetary donations to charities in recognition of employee’s volunteer efforts!
