Texas Ambassador

Theresa Spong

Theresa Spong resides outside of Austin, TX. She is the grandmother of a 4-year-old child with CACNA1A. Louise was diagnosed at the age of one. I still recall sitting on the sofa beside my daughter, Brittany, when we received the diagnosis. It was devastating to hear phrases such as "not much is known", "it is incredibly rare", and "there is no treatment or cure". Our family found substantial support and a warm welcome in the CACNA1A Foundation. Their leaders provided valuable resources, including the latest scientific information and emotional support for our entire family.

For the past three years, I have been volunteering with the Foundation, contributing in a meaningful way to this pioneering organization. With a background in Pediatric Physical Therapy, I have always had a passion for working with children and adults with disabilities. I am enthusiastic about serving as the Texas Ambassador for the CACNA1A Foundation, where I aim to raise awareness within our communities, share local and state resources, connect families with the latest scientific information available from the Foundation, and, most importantly, support families on their journey.
